Rwanda: Maize Flour Rises to Rwf650 a Kilo

Prices of some of the major commodities have gone up, with maize and millet flour prices rising by between Rwf20 and Rwf50 per kilo each.

A kilogramme of maize flour costs Rwf650 in Nyarugenge and Nyabugogo markets, up from Rwf600. Millet flour goes for Rwf1,220 from Rw1,200 per kilogramme in Nyarugenge market. Beans cost Rwf500 a kilogramme in Kimironko Market, up from Rwf450, while wheat is at Rwf650 compared to Rwf600 a kilo last week.

Groundnuts are stable at Rwf1,200 per kilo and fresh peas go for Rwf1,250 a kilogramme in Kimironko Market.

A kilogramme of sugar is at between Rwf700 and Rwf800 in Kimironko and Nyarugenge markets, beef cost Rwf2,000 and a kilo of fresh fish is at Rwf2,000. Irish potatoes go for Rwf220 a kilo, while a five-litre jerry can of cooking oil costs Rwf6,000.
